Intel Xeon Gold 6248R Processor (Pulled)

The Intel Xeon Gold 6248R belongs to the Cascade Lake Refresh line that Intel released in the first quarter of 2020, and it is one of the most requested pulled processors for the LGA 3647 platform. It offers 24 cores and 48 threads at a 3.0 GHz base clock, with turbo up to 4.0 GHz, 35.75 MB of L3 cache and a 205 W TDP. The high base clock sets it apart from the earlier Gold 6148 and Gold 6248: database, virtual desktop and per-core licensed workloads benefit from faster cores rather than more of them. Memory support is six channels of DDR4-2933 up to 1 TB per socket, and the processor is limited to two-socket systems. Pulled units typically come out of Dell PowerEdge R640 and R740xd, HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen10 and Lenovo ThinkSystem SR650 servers.

Hosting providers buy the 6248R to upgrade existing Gen10 and 14G fleets without changing chassis, system integrators use it in budget virtualisation hosts, and universities, laboratories and resellers in the CIS, Africa and South Asia take smaller lots. Two points matter before ordering: the 205 W TDP requires a heatsink rated for it, since many 1U servers shipped with lower-rated coolers, and the host BIOS must date from 2020 or later to recognise the Refresh SKUs. Every processor is tested in a reference platform, lots can be filtered by stepping and S-spec, processors are sold per lot, and the partner limited warranty of typically 90 days to 12 months is stated in the quotation.

The contract, invoice and warranty for second-hand hardware come from InTechnologies' licensed partners.
