Kioxia CD8-R 7.68TB 2.5-inch NVMe Data Centre SSD

The Kioxia CD8-R is a read-intensive data-centre NVMe SSD in the 2.5-inch 15 mm form factor, built on Kioxia 112-layer BiCS FLASH TLC. The 7.68 TB model is rated at 7,100 MB/s sequential read, 6,000 MB/s sequential write, 1,150K random read IOPS and 200K random write IOPS at 1 DWPD, with a five-year warranty. Kioxia's current product specification lists the interface as PCIe 4.0 x4 with NVMe 1.4, and the series supports the OCP Datacenter NVMe SSD 2.0 feature set. Three versions exist at 7.68 TB: KCD81RUG7T68 (base), KCD8XRUG7T68 (sanitize instant erase) and KCD8DRUG7T68 (self-encrypting drive).

Hyperscale and enterprise buyers use CD8-R as a cost-efficient read-intensive tier for object storage, content delivery and virtualisation hosts, and it is a common alternative to the Samsung PM9A3 and Micron 7450 PRO in multi-vendor flash fleets. It drops into any U.2 or U.3 NVMe bay and is qualified in Supermicro, Dell and HPE platforms. Kioxia introduced the CD8 series in 2022 as a design based on its PCIe 5.0 controller platform, but the shipping CD8-R specification is PCIe 4.0 x4 and its 7,100 MB/s ceiling sits at the Gen4 limit; the later CD8P-R raises this to 12,000 MB/s on Gen5 hosts. For fleets on Gen4 backplanes, CD8-R delivers the full available bandwidth.

Kioxia data-centre SSDs are supplied through InTechnologies' licensed partners, who contract with the customer and issue the invoice. InTechnologies sources from Kioxia authorised distribution and verified channel stock, consolidates in Dubai Airport Freezone and ships DDP or DDU.
