The Juniper Networks QFX5120-48Y is a fixed 1U data-centre switch with 48 SFP28 ports for 1, 10 or 25 GbE servers and eight QSFP28 ports for 40 or 100 GbE uplinks. It switches 4 Tbps bidirectionally at 2 billion packets per second with latency as low as 800 nanoseconds, holds 288,000 MAC addresses and 64,000 ARP entries behind a 32 MB buffer, and runs Junos OS with full EVPN-VXLAN, IP fabric and MC-LAG support. Juniper Apstra can manage it as part of an intent-based fabric alongside QFX5130 and QFX5220 spines.
The QFX5120-48Y is a standard leaf for private-cloud and enterprise data centres, storage fabrics and the access layer of AI clusters where 25 GbE server connectivity is sufficient. It is also used as a collapsed spine-leaf pair in smaller sites. Front-to-back or back-to-front airflow versions are available, and licences for advanced routing features are added according to the fabric design.
