Cisco Meraki MX85 SD-WAN Security Appliance

The Cisco Meraki MX85 is a cloud-managed security and SD-WAN appliance for small to medium branches, rated at 1 Gbps of stateful firewall throughput and 1 Gbps of VPN throughput for a recommended 250 client devices. It provides four dedicated WAN uplinks, two 1 GbE SFP and two 1 GbE RJ45, together with eight 1 GbE RJ45 and two SFP LAN ports in a fanless 1U rack-mount chassis that draws no more than 55 W. All configuration, firmware and monitoring are handled from the Meraki dashboard, with Auto VPN building site-to-site tunnels for up to 200 peers without manual IPsec setup.

It suits multi-site retailers, clinics, schools and professional-services firms that want branch security managed centrally without on-site network engineers, and it is frequently paired with Meraki MS switches and MR access points for a single-dashboard deployment. The appliance requires an active Meraki licence, either Enterprise, Advanced Security or Secure SD-WAN Plus, which also unlocks content filtering, intrusion prevention and advanced malware protection.
