Samsung 96GB DDR5-5600 ECC RDIMM (2Rx4, 24Gb)

The Samsung M321RYGA0PB0-CWM is a 96 GB DDR5-5600 ECC registered DIMM that uses 24 Gb DDR5 dies in a dual-rank x4 layout. It is one of the non-binary capacities DDR5 introduced, sitting between the 64 GB and 128 GB points, and it runs at 5600 MT/s with CL46 timing at 1.1 V. To the memory controller it registers as a standard 2Rx4 RDIMM, so it reaches its capacity without 3DS stacking or quad-rank loading.

The 96 GB point exists for capacity planning: twelve modules fill an AMD EPYC 9004 or 9005 socket with 1,152 GB, and eight fill a 5th Gen Xeon Scalable socket with 768 GB, without paying for 128 GB parts or dropping to two DIMMs per channel. Cloud providers and SAP HANA and in-memory analytics integrators use it to hit specific tenant or appliance sizes. The main caveat is platform support for 24 Gb-based modules: BIOS and memory-controller firmware must recognise the density, which is the case on current Intel and AMD server platforms but not on the earliest 4th Gen Xeon firmware releases. Samsung labels the same module with OEM suffixes such as CWMXJ, and the suffix should be kept consistent within a system.
