Switch 2 reaches 23.68 million ahead of September price rise

Nintendo’s results for the quarter to 30 June 2026, published on 6 August, show 3.82 million Switch 2 consoles shipped in the three months, taking the lifetime total to 23.68 million. The quarter was down 34.4% year on year, but the comparison is against the launch quarter of June 2025. Switch 2 software sold 9.46 million units in the quarter, up 9.2%, for 58.17 million lifetime. The original Switch added 660,000 consoles and now stands at 156.59 million.
Nintendo kept its full-year forecast at 16.5 million Switch 2 consoles and 60 million games for the fiscal year ending March 2027. The company also recorded roughly $300 million in US tariff refunds that had earlier been booked as costs, and said it had largely absorbed tariffs rather than passing them on. These are sell-in figures: consoles shipped to retailers and sold through Nintendo’s own stores, not sales to consumers.
A fast first year, then the first price rise
The previous fiscal year closed with 19.86 million Switch 2 units in roughly 300 days, about 32% more than the original Switch managed in its first year. The same 7 May results carried the first price revision. In Japan the console moved from ¥49,980 to ¥59,980 on 25 May. In the United States the price rises from $449.99 to $499.99 on 1 September 2026, Canada from $629.99 to $679.99 and Europe from €469.99 to €499.99 on the same date. Nintendo apologised for “the impact these price revisions may have on our customers” and pointed to changing market conditions it expects to persist over the medium to long term.
On supply, Nintendo said at its shareholder meeting that it expects to meet the production plan for the current fiscal year while flagging uncertainty in the market environment, and that memory-related procurement costs had not materially affected the year to March 2026. Investors were less patient: the shares fell about 9% in the days after the May results and were down roughly 40% over twelve months by mid-May, according to PocketGamer.biz.
The picture for the channel is therefore one of adequate supply at a higher price. Nintendo has not announced a second revision, but it is planning the fiscal year from April 2027 on the assumption that memory and storage costs may rise further.
What it means for buyers
For wholesale buyers the September date is the practical anchor. Orders for Gulf and Central Asian retail placed on pre-September European or US list prices should be invoiced and shipped before the change, and any quotation after that date needs the new base. Specify the regional model and the bundled game card or download code when ordering bundles, because Nintendo’s limited warranty applies only in the region where the console was intended to be sold, and eShop prepaid cards are region-specific. The Japanese revision came earlier, on 25 May, so Japanese stock has already been repriced. With demand running ahead of the original Switch, modest MOQs placed early are safer than large speculative orders at the new price.
